CANSKATE - PROGRAM ASSISTANTS

Skate Seaway considers the role of a CanSkate-Program Assistant as that of a volunteer.

All our Program Assistants participate in annual formalized training

•   Assist with leading warm‐ups, group activities and cool‐downs 

•   Assist with the set-up of circuits and stations

•   Lead circuits and rotations

•   Demonstrate proper execution of skating skills

•   Provide aid to skaters who may have additional needs

•   Time speed skills

•   Provide general assistance to Coaches on the session

•   Provide encouragement and general feedback to skaters

•   Assist with tracking of skill acquisition

 

Coaches select Program Assistant candidates who are: 

•   Good communicators and demonstrators

•   Enthusiastic

•   Team players and good role models

•   Responsible

•   Punctual

•   Prepared and organized

•   Able to lead groups, encourage skaters and offer praise

•   Able to keep skaters moving while having fun

ALL CanSkate-Program Assistants must be registered Skate Canada members.
